Football Roundup: Denver Narrowly Beat Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Battle

In a defensive struggle on Sunday, the Denver Broncos clinched a 13-11 victory over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz provided the late go-ahead field goal to secure the ugly win.

Defensive Display Seals Contest

Even with recording nine sacks against Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following giving up a safety in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 offensive yards throughout the entire game.

Nix, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's 27-yard field goal with approximately five minutes left.

Record Struggles for Jets Offense

In spite of their dismal offensive display, the Jets maintained the ball with a chance to score a possible winning score. However Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it rather than calling on specialist Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.

The Jets quarterback had difficulties all game, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the lowest in any contest since 1998.

"Our passing game was non-existent," the coach stated after the contest.
