Unveiling an Bizarre Steam Demo: Playing as a Turdy Character on a Quest to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have found plenty of engaging indie games. However, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer features a hero that is truly a piece of poop striving to make its way to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."
Player controls is simple: press a one button to leap. Throughout 150 challenges, battle tough enemies and unlock a store to buy skins for your poop character.
Execute your jumps precisely, since one error requires restarting the level. Jump on floating orbs to hurl your character upward, navigate disappearing ledges, and activate switches to unlock new areas. Gather UN-KOINS to purchase challenging game content as the action intensifies.
Visually, the experience features vibrant stages and an amazing background music. The retro visual style with shifting geometric shapes could recall fans of classic titles like Earthbound.
Although difficult to think of similar titles where you control a dung character, gaming often incorporated scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can create grenades from protagonist waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as fertilizer. Naturally, this theme shows up heavily in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already garnered notable recognition, like being named best at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. This trial version is ready now on Steam, with the complete version planned to arrive on PC in the fall.
